FAQ

Where are you located?

I’m located in Florida and my services are online so I can see anybody throughout the state. Though, I’m contemplating starting in-person services in Plantation, Fl so if you’re in that area, ask me about this!

Do you take insurance?

No, but if you check your insurance’s out-of-network benefits, I can provide an invoice for you to get reimbursed directly from them.
Insurance companies require diagnosing people to cover expenses since they see everything under the “Medical Model,” and that’s the reason why I don’t take insurance. I don’t need to label anyone.

Do you have a cancellation policy?

Yes, I would like to have 24 hours’ notice to avoid a no-show fee, as I held a spot that can be offered to someone in need. However, I can be flexible depending on the situation and offer options that can work for both of us.

Is online therapy private and confidential?

Yes, the same privacy and confidentiality rules apply to online therapy. I will secure all of your personal information and protect it as if we met in any medical office.

Is online therapy better than face-to-face therapy?

Neither one is necessarily better than the other.
Some issues might require face-to-face sessions, depending on the severity of the symptoms. Other issues, however, are better dealt with through online therapy because you can address the symptoms where they’re actually present.

Do you only use Gestalt therapy?

I’m trained in different counseling approaches such as cognitive-behavioral therapy (CBT), solution-focused therapy, reality therapy, etc. However, I specialize in Gestalt therapy, and I’m very passionate about it. It has helped me get amazing results with clients.

The reason why I’m so passionate about Gestalt Therapy is that compared to other approaches, it helps me to address deeper and underlying issues as it focuses on emotions, unfinished business, and unhealthy cycles that people find difficult to break. With Gestalt Therapy, I have the chance to walk with you on a self-discovery journey that will bring to light a lot of issues that you can finally understand and finally address.
However, I will always make sure I stay flexible and make sure I utilize the approach that best meets your needs.

What should I expect in my first session?

During our first session, I will be asking you some questions to clarify what you’re looking forward to from the process. We’ll look at your past patterns to set goals (together), so you have an idea of what to expect in subsequent sessions and at the end of our journey.

How long does therapy last?

It all depends on what you’re seeking help for and how you’re benefiting from counseling.
Some people expect to be in therapy for 3-4 months and achieve all their treatment goals and then they’re done. Others want to tackle other issues they find along the way, and they decide to do it longer. It’s all done on a case-by-case basis.
It’s important to note, though, that there are no strings attached. You can always stop therapy whenever you wish. This is something that we will discuss in our first session.

I’m curious about Hypnotherapy but I’m afraid I won’t have control over my mind

Hypnotherapy is not the “stage hypnosis” you have probably seen on TV. Hypnosis is a state of heightened awareness where you remain fully conscious and able to respond to prompts and have the control to stop the process at any time.

Hypnosis is brainwashing

Hypnosis does not involve controlling someone’s mind or making them act against their will. You are always in control and can choose to accept or reject suggestions.

Hypnotherapy is dangerous

Hypnotherapy is safe and does not pose any risks.

Hypnotherapy is only to recover lost memories

While during a heightened state of awareness and age regression is possible, recovering lost memories (age regressions) can absolutely happen in regular talk-therapy sessions, it happens all the time.

How long and how often will the sessions be scheduled?

Our sessions are scheduled to be 50 minutes; however, we might go up to 60 minutes depending on what is going on. I also offer 90 minute sessions for people interested in doing deeper work that at times requires longer processing time like hypnotherapy sessions.

These sessions are normally scheduled once a week; however, if there is the need to meet more often, we can also discuss that.

Is therapy going to fix all my problems?

I can’t guarantee that therapy will solve all your problems, but I can assure you that I will help you learn about these problems and underlying causes of your emotional distress that have become roadblocks in solving these problems.
I will hold your hand and navigate those unpleasant feelings with you as you achieve the inner peace that comes from understanding yourself.

What population do you work with?

I work with adults and couples only.

Do couples fight in front of you?

I stay attentive to signs that can give me an idea of the couple’s communication style, and I make sure emotions are being expressed in a healthy way to avoid escalation.

Are you LGBTQIA friendly?

Absolutely, my client’s sexual preference will not affect my objectivity while providing counseling.

Do you prescribe medications?

No, I’m not a medical doctor that prescribes medication; however, if the severity of your symptoms indicates the need for medication, I will make sure I provide you with referrals to obtain them, as I work closely with psychiatrists and/or other types of prescribers.

Are you going to tell me what to do?

No, I’m not here to tell you what to do. But I will help you walk through options you might be contemplating to resolve a problem. Most importantly, I will help you grow from the pain and stress, all while providing support and guidance to find the balance you are looking for.

Why did you decide to become a therapist?

I have been passionate about Psychology since I was 13 years old. I actually never had a “plan b” for my career, as I never saw myself doing something that would not involve understanding people’s behavior and helping them find healthier patterns in life. I believe that my empathetic personality, combined with my listening skills and extensive training, provides me with many other resources to stay on top of my game during my role as a therapist.

Who is your perfect client?

My perfect client is an adult (or couple) who is struggling with emotions and is ready to make sense of it all. Someone who is ready to self-explore, live a balanced life and needs some guidance and support to achieve that.

How do I know you’re the right therapist for me?

If you are looking to work with someone that won’t just stay on the surface of your issues, is passionate about her work and will stay focused on finding the underlying issues of your problems, we will most likely be a good fit.

Do you have a therapist on your own?

Absolutely! I would not offer a service that I have not used! Having my own therapist helps me stay in tune with my own emotions to remain completely objective in the work with my clients. I don’t have the words to explain how much it helps me in my personal and professional life!

Will you think I’m crazy?

Absolutely not. I will think that you have been strong enough to make the first step to live your best life!

Do you have kids?

Yes! I have a beautiful 9-year-old girl and a 7-year-old super active boy. Always busy, huh?

Android or iPhone?

iPhone!

Starbucks or Dunkin?

Starbucks!

Why am I reading this?

Because you’re contemplating therapy and want to know as much as you can about my work before you call me and that is absolutely ok.

Am I ready to make the call?

Yes! You’ve done your research; you understand how therapy can help you, and you are more convinced of what you can expect and feel prepared to call me.
